Week 9- Books: Reported, Presentations: Presented

This week starts off the book report presentations, and so far they have been very interesting. There are clearly many books out there that base their focus and ideals in technology and its many benefits/detriments to our society. Some authors will strike a more positive note, stating that we can learn to use technology to our advantage, and then some authors will take a more negative path and claim that we are headed into a very dark age. I understand that when writing a book an author must find a position and stick with it, but some ideas (especially some of those in my group's book, Distracted) can be a little too extremist with not much room for alternatives or exceptions. If I were to write a book on technology's effects on us, I would take the time to state that we all handle technology in our own ways. It is a very relative experience, therefore there will always be pros and cons within our exposure to the internet, cell phones, television, etc. I'm interested in seeing what the last two groups have to share next week, as well as seeing what Tuesday's guest speaker has to say. Until then, stay classy!
